Why do way pay more for health insurance every month than most people in this country pay for rent?
The wonderful plan that we have requires us to have our "primary" doctor's approval before seeing anyone else for medical reasons. So when Hannah had her little infection on our last trip to Ohio, I called her primary physician and got approval to take her to the stat-care place that was nearby.
I just got a notice from our insurance that said the "out of network" claim was denied, it was my responsibility to pay the healthcare provider. I got a bill from the stat care place for the balance due for their services (the price of which, by the way I think is a little steep considering we were only with the doctor for a grand total of about 7½ minutes...)
It just makes me wonder what, exactly, my monthly health insurance payment is going toward. Certainly not the way insurance was intended to work when it was invented generations ago....
