Stay at Home Mom???

I think there should be a better term for us. Being a mother is much more involved than simply staying at home. We do alot. Things that don't look like much to a dad when he gets home and wonders why the house is not perfectly tidy or the bathrooms don't gleam.

Newborns especially require a ton of mom time... they loved to be held and always have to know that you are around. Until a routine was set with Hannah, I didn't get a moment to myself. Not that I needed it, when we decided to have a child I gave up all rights to being selfish (not that being selfish is acceptable). But now that she is going down for naps, and being put to bed earlier, I have a moment to pick up burp cloths or hats or any of the other fun baby necessities that happen to be thrown all over the house. When I finally get around to eating, cleaning up or getting something done, guess who wakes up and wants to be fed :-)

Now throw in your own business and you have utter craziness. That is how I shall describe it! Add another family business in what little free time we have left... and things get pretty stressful. I think that is where Matt and I would fall right now! We are finally in our own home, we are parents, we are running our own business and Matt is trying to fit into his family's business too. For three years we have been saying we need to find an organization and stick to a system. It is hard to make a system when there is not a spare moment to try to find a system, much less make one.

Anyway, we love being parents, however it sure makes working together much more difficult! Things aren't as easily accomplished as they were even as few as five months ago. I enjoy going to the fairs and helping set up, but sometimes Hannah is just not in the mood to be there at all or demands to be held and walking around. That is all fine and dandy, but it sure slows me (or whoever happens to be holding her at the time) down. Matt and I are trying to work something out so everything will get accomplished and so we aren't terribly exhausted come the end of the week.

I guess I am just rambling, but sometimes I really think that Mothers do need a few more arms! To be able to accomplish everything and keep that little one content, it is harder that one would think! And as for stay at home moms, we deserve a little more credit - there has got to be a better description!! (However, it would be nice to be able to stay at home and read books and sip iced tea all day long!! Guess that is what retirement is for!)
