(In)Convenience of online bill pay

I just love the convenience of paying bills online. When it works...

I guess just because I can pay online doesn't mean I should be in the habit of waiting until the day the bill is due to pay it. Most of the time, that's okay - but sometimes, like tonight, the website will not cooperate. Not the first time or the first site that this has happened to me. Kinda stresses me out. "Server Error - sorry for the inconvenience"... erg. I thought maybe it was a Firefox compatibility issue (I still come across some sites that are optimized for IE for some reason). Doesn't work with either browser. Maybe it's my connection. Many sites are now optimized for high-speed, and yes, we're still using antiquated dial-up.

Okay, I'm done ranting. I'll take a break for a while and try again later.

Getting ready for the snow...

The forecast is calling for the first nor'easter of the season overnight and into tomorrow. Anywhere from 6-12". I spent a few hours this afternoon working on the snowblower that Bob gave us the other week. All of the parts were there, I just put them all back together. Some new oil and fresh gasoline and it fired right up. Everything seems to work for now, we'll give it a go tomorrow and see how it works!

Next court date

We got notice today that our court date for next week has been rescheduled due to "unforeseen circumstances". It will be one day earlier, on Wednesday afternoon. Just as well by me - I'm anxious to get our dealings with the Raymonds done and behind us.

Another first for Hannah!

We went to Hampshire Hills today to take advantage of the pool. Since Hannah loves being in the water at bath time, we thought she might like to try the pool. I stopped at the store to pick up some "Little Swimmers", and we brought Hannah into the water with us. She seemed to enjoy it very much, and only fussed when we brought her out - although that was probably because she doesn't like wet diapers.

We had the camera with us, and there are a couple of pictures from today posted in the "Hannah" photo album.

It is great to catch up with friends!

Tonight was so refreshing!! I was able to chat with my mom on the phone for a bit while Matt was at a meeting. It is always great to call home! I sure do miss them like crazy!

Then after Hannah's 10 o'clock feeding, I put her to bed and hopped on-line to do my usual one minute checking of AIM. Just to catch up on all the away messages to see what everyone is up to. Usually I jump off quickly before anyone catches me because I don't have the time to chat... being a wife and mother and all the fun that goes along with that! Then what do I see before my eyes... a screen name of a good college friend of mine who I haven't been able to talk to in a very long time. The last time I talked to her, she was the only person that knew we were planning to try for a baby! Anyway, we had a great chat over IM and now... she may be planning a little spring break getaway to New England!! Wahoo! I sure hope it all works out, I can't wait to see her again! Last time we saw each other was the day of our college graduation. Way too long!

Now I think that I need to go get some sleep because Hannah will get us up way too early in the morning! We have finally implemented a routine!! It only took 3 months... not too bad!! I guess now that we are finally staying in one place for more than 3 days, we should get a system!! It is nice to put her down for naps and be able to get stuff around the house done! Having some quiet time with Matt is nice too!!

Tomorrow, we may go swimming! Can't wait! Sure do like having a membership to an athletic club! Not that I am in any way, shape, or form athletic!! It is fun to pretend!

Our day in court - Orders of Notice

I just got back from the Orders of Notice hearing for Richmond vs Raymond.
Very interesting...

The session started off with the judge asking for Mr. Raymond's financial affidavit, since she didn't have one in the file. He said he didn't have one, and she asked if it was because he had not received one. To which he studdered a bit and finally said, "We didn't think that we needed to. It's not that we can't pay this amount, it's that my wife and I don't feel the judgement was accurate and we don't owe the money." That kinda floored the judge! (Incidentally, it was the same judge that we had in November). She recapped the judgement, and informed Mr. Raymond that he was free to disagree with the judgement, and he had certain appellate rights that he could have availed himself to, but since he did not - the judgement stands.

He asked what those "rights" were, that he was a bit confused about that. To which she informed him of his rights to appeal to the supreme court. (This was, by the way, clearly outlined with the judgement that was issued - if he had taken the time to read it completely.)

The judge ruled that he should pay in full (which is now almost $30 more due to additional court costs and one certified mail envelope) by Feb 20. He seemed a bit upset and tried to storm off twice before the paperwork was finished.

Hopefully, we will only have to see Mr. Raymond one more time, in a court date that is set for Feb 16th. I will be defending myself against his claim that we owe him for unpaid rent.

Please pray for our upcoming court dates

Just a quick note to ask for prayer for justice in our case, and peace and wisdom as I head in to court twice in the next two weeks regarding the legal actions with our former landlord.

On Feb 9th, I will be in attendance as Mr. Raymond is called before the court to make payment arrangements. After the Nov 14th judgement in our favor, he had 30 days to pay us, and we never received that payment. I filed again with the court, and he now has to appear before a judge to explain why he has not made even an attempt to pay us the judgement.

On Feb 16th, I will be going in to defend myself in his claim against us, in which he says we owe him one month's rent. I have my defense all planned out, but pray that I will have the wisdom to say what needs to be said, and nothing more or less. I believe that we have a very strong defense in this case.

I will keep this page updated as things progress.

Photo Album Updated

Some new pictures have been posted in the Photo Album, and they are now sorted out and captioned as well!

Logging in to the-richmonds.net

Along with the new website comes some new security measures. You may notice the "Log In" area to the left of the screen. You may create a user account in this area as well. You do not need to have an account to read the updates posted here, but if you do not, you will not have the ability to post comments.

Once you create a user account, a password will be emailed to you. You may log in with that password, and once logged in, you can change your assigned password to something you can remember. Also, you may check the "Remember Me" option when logging in, so you will not have to enter your user name and password at every visit to the-richmonds.net.

I apologize for the initial inconvenience, but in the grand scheme of things, it is much more convenient than having to delete "spam" entries out of the comment areas. You can look in the Q&A section if you need any assistance - or feel free to contact me!
