Yesterday we took a drive up to the North Country. Joy and her mom stayed with us Friday night and then were going to head up to Colebrook during the day yesterday. We decided that we'd go halfway with them. We decided that we'd try to all catch the 1:00 Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad train out of Meredith. Well, I missread the website, and the train actually left at 12:30. We bought tickets for the 2:30 ride, and Joy and her mother decided to keep heading north to get to their destination before dark.
We had an enjoyable 2-hour 20-mile round trip train ride along the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. Hannah was a bit distraught at first when she couldn't find the buckle on the seat, but it didn't take her too long to enjoy what was going on. We were seated in time to watch the locomotive go by beside us, on it's way to hook up on the front end of the train for the trip to Weirs Beach.
