Over the last few months, we have been watching as a "bubble" was planted on the other side of the pond from us. We knew that it was part of Hampshire Hills, the fitness center just around the corner from our house. Yesterday, I stopped by with my father to peek inside. Rick, the owner of Hampshire Hills was actually there and invited us in to the Hampshire Dome. Quite an impressive facility - the structure is over 600 feet long and over 200 feet wide, with a ceiling peak of over 70 feet. It can hold 3 soccer fields or 2 baseball fields. There is also a specially-paved, inclined rollertrack around the outside (for rollerblades, jogging, biking, etc).
When I mentioned that I have been watching the progress of the construction from my backyard, he knew right where we lived. Turns out, he sold this land to our builder. When he sold it, he told our builder to let us know that the families that move in to these two houses can have a one-year membership at Hampshire Hills. Well, our builder did mention something about Hampshire Hills, but not that!
Rick actually stopped by the house last night to drop off a catalog for us, and told us that the membership desk will be expecting us (and our neighbors as well). We'll be stopping by to pick up our membership to the facility sometime in the next day or two. This is a huge gift (I looked into membership there long enough to realize that we couldn't afford it at the time), and we will certainly be taking advantage of the invitation to use these facilities.
