Please pray for us in the next few weeks and months for God's guidance and providence in our life, specifically that His plan for us for the next few years be made perfectly clear. As mentioned in the previous post, our Spring book season was not good, and as we roll into the summer, that fact has hit us pretty hard. As difficult as it is to think about, something drastic has got to change in our lives.
I am having a telephone meeting tomorrow with our regional manager. Although she doesn't know the details, she does know that we're in a tough spot. We'll be spending a couple of hours going over each and every account that I will be handling, putting some of the smaller ones on "hold" until another BAF rep can be hired into the area to cover them, leaving me a little more time to cover some of the bigger accounts in the Boston area. (I am now the only rep in the Boston area that is set up to cover corporate events. When we were hired, there were three. No small amount of pressure on me!) Even though we had many openings in the Spring, my Fall is completely booked, and add to that a couple of new accounts and about a dozen existing accounts that I inherited from a departed BAF rep. If we can make it through until the Fall, we should be able to make it through the Fall with no problems.
Last week, just to see what options are out there, I put my resumé up on Monster. (Ironic that I am using the service of a company that I just landed the priviledge of holding a bookfair at!). I've had about half a dozen companies request interviews with me. I'll actually be going on an interview in Bedford (NH) this Friday at a financial consulting company. I guess these companies are interested in my managerial experience, as they have all been out of my field of expertise, but have said that they will provide training specific to their field. So this should be interesting... I've got a couple more interview requests that I may be following up with.
Heather's business has been picking up steadily since we started with it. There aren't too many trips that she takes now that aren't combination trips. It's nice to take care of 2 or more deliveries with one trip into town! You can tell that summer vacations have begun, as more people are traveling and requiring her services, especially now that we're rolling into July.
So .... pray that the Lord will make obvious to us what course of action we need to take, and that business would pick up so that we could make it through the summer. Also pray for me as we go into the fall, as I'm probably going to need to find a helper again (finding whom will be another issue altogether!) Or, if there is something else that the Lord has for me employment-wise, then pray that it would be totally obvious and the transition would be easy.
Thanks for all of you who uphold us in prayer. We know that we could not be where we are on our own, and we give God all the glory for getting us this far. We trust in Him to provide for our growing family, no matter where He leads us.
