Curses on you, Scholastic!

ERG!  Why couldn't Scholastic Books just be content with school bookfairs?

For years and years, Scholastic has done school bookfairs, Books Are Fun has done corporate.  We had our "territories" and didn't bother each other.  Several years ago, in the Boston area in particular, Scholastic set foot onto BAF turf.  It wasn't long after that that BAF started running school bookfairs, and now it's become very crowded in both fields.

They've been coming in to our territory -- our accounts -- to set up Corporate bookfairs.  I just got off of the phone with a building manager at a property management location that we've been servicing since our very first month with Books Are Fun over 4 years ago.  He was very apologetic, but his hands were tied.  The decision was made by the general manager - his boss's boss.  That's exactly how we lost the Spring events at another corporation last year.  They come in through the "higher power", who just dictate to our contacts how it's gonna be.

I wish you would just go back to school, Scholastic....
